“Work in the corporate” is many of ours dream,
For AZ,that is my theme.
It is not always easy to give advises,the contrary being one of the wrong notions of people.As it is always hunting us, at least for the people we care for and chose to extend a helping hand when they are at stake by not choosing to take our advise.But if we didnt extend our support at all, assuming it that way,can we stay composed?
I could have saved a life that day,
But I chose to look the other way.
It wasn’t that I didn’t care;
I had the time, and I was there.
But I didn’t want to seem a fool,
Or argue over a safety rule.
I knew he’d done the job before;
If I spoke up he might get sore.
The chances didn’t seem that bad;
I’d done the same, he knew I had.
So I shook my head and walked by;
He knew the risks as well as I.
He took the chance, I closed an eye;
And with that act, I let him die.
I could have saved a life that day,
But I chose to look the other way.
Now every time I see his wife,
I know I should have saved his life.
That guilt is something I must bear;
But isn’t’ something you need to share.
If you see a risk that others take
That puts their health or life at stake,
The question asked or thing you say;
Could help them live another day.
If you see a risk and walk away,
Then hope you never have to say,
“I could have saved a life that day,
But I chose to look the other way.”
It is hard to win the confidence of the colleagues at work,these might help you:
The characteristics of an ideal team player
An ideal team player is:
• Approachable, constructive and supportive – listens actively and communicates in an open and non-judgemental way, using appropriate language and concepts.
• Willing and able to devote time and commitment to the relationship.
• Skilled and enthusiastic about helping people to develop themselves – able to help others to analyse problems and issues and select appropriate responses.
• Willing to challenge ideas and thinking – creative and innovative, encouraging lateral thinking, experimentation and innovative approaches.
• Trustworthy, objective, patient and assertive – knows when to question, using different styles to elicit information, to enable the colleague to make linkages and reach appropriate conclusions, whilst ensuring that the initiative for achieving outcomes and solutions is owned and retained by the seeking colleague.
• Experienced and successful, with good contacts and wide-ranging competence and experience – is able to draw on and reflect on wide experience to assist the colleague to gain insight and make appropriate shifts in perspective.
Also remember to:
- Treat others with respect and dignity
- Manage your emotions
- Communicate effectively
- Try to work with others in a team
- Make work fun and rewarding

‘If I spoke up he might get sore.’ That’s what happens most of the times.
Very nice post. Good advice.

I loved the honest tone in the poetry …ya it does happen to many of us through the journey of life when we end up in such circumstances that’s not in our hands .
I hope people understand that we don’t want to look the other way .

That’s a very poignant one! Yes, mostly we choose to look the other way, sadly!

Eeek, yes.. it is always better to say something, than regret not having done so. I do… and people do get cross, but I don’t care! Great poem.
