The Indian independence is attributed to many heroes in the history who fought for it and finally to the super hero who could close out the 9 decades of British rule and declared independence.

However,i would say,the hero of independent India is Rabindranath Tagore who with his marvellous poetry/lyrics kept the spirit of Independence alive.He himself wrote the National anthem for the country which is sung till date to mark the independence day on every 15th August like today.

Though the anthem is written in the national language,i would like present the following translation (edited in 1950 to replace Sindh with Sindhu as Sindh after partition was allocated to Pakistan), attributed to Tagore :

Thou art the ruler of the minds of all people,
Dispenser of India’s destiny.
Thy name rouses the hearts of Punjab, Sindh province/Sindh,
Gujarat and Maratha,
Of the Dravida and Odisha and Bengal;
It echoes in the hills of the Vindhyas and Himalayas,
mingles in the music of Yamuna and Ganga and is
chanted by the waves of the Indian Ocean.
They pray for thy blessings and sing thy praise.
The saving of all people waits in thy hand,
Thou dispenser of India’s destiny.
Victory, victory, victory to thee.
And wishing one and all a Happy Independence day,i am glad to announce my 100th post.It is my pleasure that my 100th post is about the national anthem marking the 68th Independence day
