Sometimes,we seem to miss out the simple lessons in life and so Lesson Six is a story poem which reminds us the true meaning of Friendship.
Friendship must be with equals,
my little friend said.
Oh no you are wrong, I replied
A friend is a friend big or small
And a friend in need is a friend indeed
All my theory was of no avail,
off we went to my grandpa
He said, we will discuss later,
but should listen to a story instead
“There lived in a jungle,
A deer, a crow and a mouse
All were good friends thick and fast.
One day a hunter came along,
and Deer was caught
among animals big and small
The crow informed the mouse
who used its sharp teeth to good cause
Meanwhile the crow asked the deer
to lie still as if dead
and it began to pick its head
The hunter thought the deer is dead
and removed the net
Deer became free and thanked its friends
but the crow and mouse said,
It’s nothing, remember we are friends”
Thus grandpa finished the story
Later my little friend said,
Grandpa I have learned a lesson
Among friends there is no big and small.
I see, then, that a kind of faith prevails;
gentleness is moulded still by words

The verse,
“I see, then, that a kind of faith prevails;
Your gentleness is moulded still by words.“
is picked up from a poem by ‘Fleur Adcock’
And a special thanks to my Uncle for such a lovely theme 🙂

So true, a friend is a friend, big or small.

Very lovely story poem with a true message. The young can learn much from their elders.
