Whose turn?

Well I have taken it long as the priority tasks have kept me on my toes.Yeah thats Life šŸ˜‰ Even now i have tiptoed here just to release my rants for a while. So here it is:

We heard them some time ago in Iraq,
day before in US, yesterday in India,
today in Bangladesh and now in saudi
How much more of this do we need
To quarantine a community
when every single explosion
has their name inscribed on it

How much can any human tolerate
the acts of their so called God
who, only they can percieve
while their own brothers cannot
Is it fair to let them populate
the entire world with either their
people or the bodies of others

Why are the communities of humanity
unable to speak against one

Why are the nations unable to curb,
leave alone eliminating terrorism

Hope i get back to all of you soon after setting few things right.

Monsoon Rain 3

Happy New year 2016

new year

And now its time to see whats in store for this new year:

Happy New Year. I pray to the Almighty Lord the New Year 2016 brings joy, peace and prosperity in the world. Ā I am highly grateful to all poets, short story writers and creative artists included in this latest issue of Taj Mahal Review. This Dec 2015 issue is an attempt to select the best of contemporary world poetry, haiku, book reviews and several other attractive features. No doubt, reading, composing, and enjoying poetry is a great past time. Wallace Stevens aptly says that a poet is ā€œa metaphysician in the darkā€ and his poem ā€œthe act of the mind.ā€ But he further adds that the poem must

Be the finding of a satisfaction, and may

Be of a man skating, a woman dancing, a woman

Combing.

Svetlana Alexievich wins 2015 Nobel prize in literature. Swedish Academy admired Belarusian writer’s work Ā ā€˜for her polyphonic writings, a monument to suffering in our time’. Warmest congratulations Svetlana Alexievich.

It is most tragic and unfortunate that the unprecedented Ā terrorist attack on Nov 13 inside the Bataclan concert hall killed at least 130 people in Paris. I offer deep condolence to the bereaved families due to this carnage, ā€˜a blood bath’. Our world will be a better place to live in, if we peruse these wise words by Martin Luther King, Jr.: ā€œBut in spite of temporary victories, violence never brings permanent peace. It solves no social problem: it merely creates new and more complicated ones. Violence is impractical because it is a descending spiral ending in destruction for all. It is immoral because it seeks to humiliate the opponent rather than win his understanding: it seeks to annihilate rather than convert. Violence is immoral because it thrives on hatred rather than love. It destroys community and makes brotherhood impossible. It leaves society in monologue rather than dialogue. Violence ends up defeating itself. It creates bitterness in the survivors and brutality in the destroyers.ā€

I express my gratitude and Ā thanks to all artists and poets included in Ā this edition. There is no doubt that without their cooperation and genuine help it is not possible to publish TMR Dec 2015. Happy New Year. Best Wishes…
